Donegal roll on. Not without a stern look under the bonnet from Monaghan and not without some new rule confusion, but they progress nonetheless. Jim McGuinness’ second coming remains on track.

There was some consternation at the final whistle in front of the 16,120 in Clones. Monaghan had pulled to within two points and had won a sideline ball. It was unclear exactly when the hooter went but the home side presumed they’d get a chance to work another score only for referee David Coldrick to call time.
