Ciaran Barnes Sunday Life News Manager

Ciaran Barnes

Born and bred in Belfast, crime specialist Ciaran cut his teeth at local weeklies before moving to Sunday Life in 2009, where he has since established a reputation as one of Northern Ireland's most tenacious investigators of the criminal underworld. Initially joining as a crime correspondent, before progressing to chief reporter and now news manager, Ciaran has been reporting on crime and security matters for 25 years, winning several national and regional awards for his investigations and exposés. Notable among his many exclusives are the exposure of a relationship between a female prison officer and killer rapist that led to his return to prison, the closure of a jail unit and suspension of two governors; investigations into the murder of Lisa Dorrian which led to new digs for her body and a former suspect taking a lie detector test to prove his innocence; and a Sinn Fein MLA having to resign following an investigation into her financial affairs.
